The FRW of North Dade hosted its holiday party on December 13, with the theme of "Mojitos and Mistletoe." The organization also collected more than 75 toys and gifts for the Jackson Health Foundation and the Holtz Children's Hospital.

Speakers included Carlos Reyes, candidate for U.S. Congress, Comedian Eric Galub, and we enjoyed a special guest visitor... Santa Claus!

In collaboration with the Latin American Business Association, we held a Turkey Giveaway, to help needy families celebrate Thanksgiving. Pictured are Vice President Inez Yimoc with Secretary Ada Fennell and President Maricel Cobitz.

The FRW of North Dade saluted veterans in honor of Veterans Day by attending a parade and celebration with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Our President, Maricel Cobitz, and Vice President, Inez Yimoc, attending the biennial convention of the Florida Federated Republican Women in Cocoa Beach, Florida, October 29-31. Congressman Bill Posey was a featured guest speaker, and the group enjoyed a field trip to the Kennedy Space Center. Maricel Cobitz was elected District Representative, which means that she will hold a supervisory role for chapters across South Florida.

The Federated Republican Women of North Dade (FRWND) gathered Oct. 18 to host their first meeting since the organization’s installation in July 2017. Speakers Mayor Carlos Hernandez of Hialeah and Miami Mayoral Candidate Francis Suarez discussed the challenges facing their cities, including transit and post-hurricane disaster recovery, while Keynote Speaker John Cardillo spoke on hot topics in the media and the concept of “fake news.” The event took place at the 94th Aero Squadron on 57^th Ave. in Miami.

The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) held the 39th Biennial Convention held Sept. 14-17 in Philadelphia. President Maricel Cobitz attended, to represent our chapter.

On July 19, 2017, President Maricel Cobitz gave a speech that reviewed great Republicans in history and their contributions to our great nation. She discussed the Women's Suffrage Movement and the Civil Rights movement. The content of her speech follows:

We are the party that gave women the right to vote. We are the modern suffragettes.

We are the party that put Sandra Day O’Connor, first woman Justice, on the Supreme Court.

We are the party that Passed the 1957 Civil Rights Act and the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

We have been in the forefront of public Education. We started the Land Grant Colleges, and our own Stanley Tate started the Florida Pre- Paid college program.
We are the party of Jessie Owens, who humiliated Adolf Hitler and Jackie Robinson who de-segregated baseball.
We are the party that won the Civil War, the Spanish American War, built the Panama Canal & the Hoover Dam.
We are the party that elected the First African-American governor, Pinckney Pinchback of Louisiana in 1872.
We are the party that started the Environmental Protection Agency *We are the party that set up the Interstate Highway System.

We are the party that gave Freedom to the slaves. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Booker T. Washington & Fredrick Douglas, were all Republicans.

We are the Party that elected the first woman to the U.S. House of Representatives Jeannette Rankin, in 1916.

We are the party that founded the Tuskegee Institute and Howard University.

We are the party that elected the 1st African American Senator, Hiram Revels, from Mississippi in 1870.

We are the Party that started the National Park system under President Teddy Roosevelt. And founded Yellowstone as the first national park in 1872.

We are the party that founded NASA under President Eisenhower and put a man on the moon under President Nixon.

We are the party that made Condeleeza Rice The first African American Secretary of State

We are the Party that defeated Communism under President Ronald Reagan and President Bush.

We are Tired of RINOS who get into power and do nothing. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We are tired of the government killing jobs by putting burdensome regulations on our business. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We believe the government is the problem not the solution. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We are tired of enviornmental regulations that stop our enjoyment of our oceans and parks. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We believe in the 2nd Amendment and believe that honest citizens should be allowed to protect themselves not let the government take it away from us. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We believe in individual freedom not the “Nanny State.” We are tired of a PATERNALISTIC government telling us what to do. WE WILL CHANGE THAT.

We will not back down, We will not be silenced. We are the daughters of past proud Republican women.

WE will ensure that the country of the people, founded by the people, for the people will not perish from this earth.

As Ronald Reagan said “People who agree with us 70 percent of the time are not our enemies.” Let us work to bring more of our fellow Americans into our Party.

The FRW of North Dade held their Installation Gala on July 19 at the 94th Aero Squadron. President Maricel Cobitz gave a fantastic speech, reminding the audience of all of the great Republicans and their contributions to our country. President Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Martin Luther King Jr., were all Republicans and their legacy is still guiding us today.
